A maxon motor ESCON 50/5 controller
Like the popular dc motor controller, the ESCON 36/2 DC, maxon’s new ESCON servo motor controller 50/5 offers excellent digital and analogue control properties, with an enormous bandwidth for optimal motor current/torque control.
However, the ability to handle larger dc motors and brushless dc motor units makes the ESCON 50/5 an attractive option where additional performance, torque or longevity need to be applied with accuracy and responsiveness, such as conveyers, pumps and precision lifting devices.
Extremely dynamic speed control allows drift-free precision over a speed range of 0 to 150,000 rpm.
The 4-quadrant PWM servo controller also boasts several operating modes – open and closed loop speed control, and current control – and features extensive analog and digital I/O functionality.
The 50/5 boasts the same great level of usability as its sister controller, the ESCON 36/2 DC: Engineers can quickly and easily configure input and output via USB, as well as monitoring operation, recording data, and performing diagnostics. As with the 36/2, no additional filters or motor chokes are required – everything it needs for operation is included.
A variety of incorporated safety measures prevents damage caused by overcurrent, excess temperature, under and over-voltage, voltage transients, and short-circuits in the motor cable.
Operating comfortably across a wide range of voltages and operating temperatures, the versatile ESCON 50/5 is suitable for most drive applications. Furthermore, an exceptional energy efficiency of 95% makes this inexpensive controller perfect for applications requiring optimum performance and energy usage.
maxon motor UK senior sales engineer Ian Bell said: "The 36/2 set a high standard for the ESCON range but the 50/5 more than lives up to it. Our customers asked for the same functionality in a brushless motor controller and I’m delighted to say that we’ve delivered."
